While September brings the beginning of a new season and hopefully cooler temperatures for many of us, it also marks Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.
I want you to know that, as a member of the Job Corps community, you are never alone. I am by no means a medical professional, but I’d like to share a few things I’ve learned about mental health over the years and the tactics that have helped me approach hard situations. Watch the video below for more information on suicide prevention and the mental health resources available to you and our students.
Thank you all for being a part of the Job Corps community and for your incredible dedication to our students. We know how rewarding it is to work with students and support them as they achieve their career goals. At the same time, it can be challenging and takes hard work, dedication and perseverance; but it’s worth it, and so are you! If you ever need extra support, please don’t hesitate to contact me at news@doljobcorps.com.
Y2Y and Suicide Prevention Resources

National Hispanic Heritage Month
For 54 years, Sept. 15–Oct. 15 has marked National Hispanic Heritage Month, which celebrates the culture and history of American Latinos. Nearly a quarter of our Job Corps students are Hispanic or Latino. We are so grateful for their contributions to our program and our nation’s history. Visit the official website here to see exhibits, events and more taking place this month.
