Thank you for all of your hard work this year, and the continued flexibility you have for the policy updates here at Job Corps. I have some great news regarding our Student Allowance and Allotment System (SAAS). The Job Corps Change Notice (CN) 21-04 titled “Update/Revision to the Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) Chapter 6, Exhibit 6-2 – Student Allowance and Allotment System (SAAS)” is effective immediately. This content change transmits the revised PRH Chapter 6, Exhibit 6-2, Student Allowance and Allotment System (SAAS). The revision includes changes to the basic living allowance payment amounts to all current and incoming students as of March 12, 2022.
The new pay rates approved by the National Office of Job Corps are as follows:
Basic living allowance for students with length of stay up to and including 182 days: $45 per two-week pay period (increased from $25 per two-week pay period)
Basic living allowance for students with length of stay over 182 days: $70 per two-week pay period (increased from $35 per two-week pay period)
As the rates have been effective for the pay period from Saturday, March 12, 2022, to Friday, March 25, 2022, the pay distributed on Friday, April 1, 2022, was paid at the new increased rates. I hope your students find this increase helpful and that it enhances their experience in the Job Corps program.
National Volunteer Week
This month celebrates National Volunteer Week, and this is the perfect time to spotlight Job Corps students and staff who have volunteered in their local community. We cannot thank you enough for going above and beyond to help others in your spare time and supporting students every day.
Volunteerism impacts so many lives across the country, doing the work that matters the most, but is often unpaid and under-recognized. This month, we want to honor those in Job Corps who have generously given their time in order to help others and encourage more to follow in their footsteps.
Check out some students, graduates and staff doing great volunteer work in their local communities and leaving a positive impact.
