Greetings,
Job Corps excels at the work we do. Every day, we continue to move toward our mission of helping young people improve their quality of life through career technical and academic training aimed at gainful employment and meaningful career pathways. But we know we need to stay current to remain effective, and to stay relevant to both the workforce and the students we serve.
We know we need to modernize our existing processes and develop an updated, inclusive, student-centered approach to position Job Corps as a destination of first choice for today’s young people. We have contracted with Susan Shorters and her team at High Impact Partners (HIP) to assist us in this effort.
As our centers are revitalized by increasing numbers of students, we have a unique opportunity to step back and assess the full scope of our program. From there, we establish a clear vision and create a roadmap to successfully meet the challenges of an ever-changing world and economic landscape. We adapt. We grow. We evolve.
We are tasking HIP to meet with Job Corps operators, center staff, students and other stakeholders in the days and weeks ahead. Their team will be contacting you through e-mail or by phone, asking you to participate in virtual roundtable sessions, focus groups or interviews.
Please be receptive, transparent and honest with HIP, and participate fully in these opportunities. We are all working together to drive our modernization strategy and achieve the innovative practices that will form the basis for a transformative Job Corps 2.0.
I am available to answer any questions or concerns regarding this effort. I appreciate your support, as always. Working together, let’s make Job Corps 2.0 a reality.
Best,
