FROM HOMELESSNESS TO HEROISM:
Antonio’s Firefighting Journey
After aging out of foster care, Antonio Forston found himself experiencing homelessness when a friend suggested that he consider Job Corps. Originally, Antonio was interested in joining only so that he could get his driver’s license; but the opportunities he found at Job Corps have taken him further than he ever thought possible.
Discovering his true passion for firefighting at the Cleveland Job Corps Center, Antonio trained in both structural and wildfire firefighting. After graduating from the Schenck Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in North Carolina, he secured a position in a wildland firefighting department in Boise, Idaho.
