Thanks to the support of her teachers and peers, Chellbie blossomed at Trapper Creek Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. Dorm chief, recreation hall president, dorm hours leader, wellness leader, safety officer, squad boss, recreation secretary, dorm safety leader. These are all accolades and leadership roles that she earned.
While completing her forest conservation training at Trapper Creek, Chellbie also participated in Job Corps’ work-based learning program that gives students on-the-job experience even before they graduate, adding timber market, trail building, bridge building, timber harvest and vegetation skills to her resume.
Chellbie’s love of the outdoors and experience at Job Corps have led her to a career in the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Her goal is to become a forest firefighter, and she’s well on her way.
“Job Corps didn’t just help me grow as a student, but as a person too.”
