Job Corps provides students with the opportunity to refocus their lives, not just in the short term, but forever. Frank Bedolla had dropped out of the 10th grade and let bad influences control him; but when he enrolled as a student at Clearfield Job Corps in Utah, his life transformed.
While beginning his training, Frank struggled with homesickness; but the staff took him under their wing. He was given advice and shown that, once you embrace your new surroundings, you can find a community and recreate yourself at Job Corps.
“The support I received at Job Corps inspired me to provide the same support in my community.”
Frank joined and eventually became president of the Hispanic Club, providing him with opportunities to build friendships and meet with community leaders. His instructors saw Frank’s leadership potential and selected him to give presentations about Job Corps to local high schools and community organizations.
Frank’s community engagement at Job Corps has translated directly to his life after graduation. In 2013, he founded the Fathers and Families Coalition of Utah, a nonprofit organization that provides education and training to develop healthy familial relationships and foster employment opportunities for his community.
