I have some exciting updates to share this month. And at the risk of repeating myself: We’re successfully bringing in another one of our planes for landing. This one is vital for our Job Corps 2.0 vision.
Pillar 3 of the Job Corps 2.0 Strategic Plan focuses on modernizing our academic and career training programs, ensuring our students receive standardized, comprehensive industry training that fully prepares them for careers upon graduation. As we worked to establish high-quality intentional pathways for students that lead to good jobs, we recognized the need for a central hub for all things Advanced Training that could serve as a one-stop shop for students and staff looking for more information.
This new platform is designed to serve as a comprehensive information hub, facilitating easy access to our Advanced Training programs for both students and staff. The Advanced Training website offers important resources, including detailed information on program locations, eligibility criteria, career prospects and instructor contacts for further application guidance.
We hope this website can help staff and instructors both highlight and promote the Advanced Training opportunities available on campus, and better advise students on the opportunities available to them throughout the program.
We encourage you to use this resource early and often, and familiarize yourselves with not just the tools, materials and trainings on hand, but also the Advanced Training opportunities available at other centers across the country. With it, you can effectively engage with students on the many Advanced Training opportunities available to them, helping them grow and hone their skills and enriching their Job Corps experience.
To better acquaint you with the resources available, we’ll be conducting two staff trainings: one tomorrow and another later in April. And, of course, if you have questions about the website or anything related to Advanced Training, feel free to reach out to CTTSubmissions@dol.gov for help.
We are fully committed to our vision for a more modern, standardized Job Corps, and this website is a crucial step in helping us better train and guide our own students, while also providing a new way to market ourselves to potential students, partners and employers.
We cannot achieve this vision without the continued support of all Job Corps staff across the program. I’d like to thank each of you for your dedication to Job Corps and our mission at the Department of Labor as we promote equity, job quality and pathways to good jobs for all workers, especially historically underrepresented ones, in our effort to build a worker-centered economy.
Have a wonderful month!
